Slim Renovation Flooring Concept

3.8 mm Slimline Espresso-Oak PP Click Flooring

A thickness-specific dark wood-look flooring concept developed for compact rooms and renovation projects where finished floor height requires careful coordination.

A new 3.8 mm branch of the product range

The Slimline series develops 3.8 mm as a separate flooring product rather than placing it inside the existing 4.2 mm and 5.0 mm specification. Its product name, model, images and technical file are all thickness-specific, helping sales, sampling and production teams identify the correct configuration throughout an inquiry.

This concept also changes the visual direction. A deep espresso-oak surface and a proposed 152 × 914 mm narrow-plank format create a more intimate rhythm for compact studios, bedrooms, small offices and carefully planned renovation spaces. The dark neutral finish is intended to work with pale walls, brick, metal and warm terracotta accents.

Concept application: narrow espresso-oak planks bring depth to a compact renovated interior.

Concept highlights

Dedicated 3.8 mm model

The thickness becomes part of the product identity so quotations, samples and production documents do not default to another construction.

Compact plank proportion

A proposed 152 × 914 mm format creates a detailed plank rhythm suited to smaller rooms and focused layouts.

Espresso-oak visual

A matte dark-brown wood grain provides a completely different palette from the earlier pale-oak and smoked-gray concepts.

Renovation-oriented planning

The product is positioned for projects where thresholds, doors and adjoining finishes must be coordinated around a slim floor build-up.

Preliminary concept specification

Product type Slim wood-look PP click flooring
Material direction PP-based core combined with natural mineral materials
Concept overall thickness 3.8 mm
Concept wear layer 0.2 mm, subject to testing and production confirmation
Concept plank size 152 × 914 mm
Surface direction Matte espresso-oak wood grain with fine pore texture
Edge concept Compact click-lock profile; final geometry subject to engineering validation
Suggested applications Bedrooms, studios, compact offices and height-sensitive renovation projects
Development notice: The 3.8 mm thickness, 0.2 mm wear layer, plank dimensions and compact click profile are new product concepts. Engineering must verify joint strength, dimensional tolerance, surface construction, installation conditions, performance, packaging and minimum order quantity before sampling, quotation or publication as a production item.

A slim profile requires its own edge development

A thinner product cannot be created responsibly by changing only the number in a catalog. The click geometry, material around the joint and manufacturing tolerance must be developed for the proposed 3.8 mm construction. Prototype fitting should examine engagement angle, edge integrity, seam appearance and repeated installation handling.

Concept detail: the slim core and compact joint require thickness-specific engineering and validation.

Renovation suitability begins with the existing floor

A slim plank may help reduce the new floor build-up, but it does not remove the need for proper substrate assessment. The existing base must be checked for flatness, dryness, movement, contamination and local damage. Door clearance, thresholds, stairs, skirting and transitions to adjacent materials should also be reviewed before final approval.

Installation over an existing finish should never be assumed from product thickness alone. The project team must confirm whether the existing surface can remain, what preparation is required and which installation method is permitted by the final technical instructions.

Thickness-specific approval process

  1. Confirm the room and substrate: record existing levels, surface condition and transition points.

  2. Review the construction: verify thickness, layers, plank size and intended click profile.

  3. Approve the physical sample: check espresso-oak color, surface texture, edge quality and model identification.

  4. Validate before production: confirm testing, installation instructions, packaging and quality criteria.
